Polytetrafluoroethylene (PTFE), abbreviated in English as PTFE, is commonly known as the "King of Plastics". Its trade name is Teflon®. In China, due to its pronunciation, the trademark "Teflon" is also called Teflon, Teflon, Teflon, Teflon, Teflon, etc., which are all transliterations of Teflon.

Polytetrafluoroethylene is called the "King of Plastics". Roy Plankter, the father of fluororesin, began to study alternatives to Freon at DuPont in the United States in 1936. They collected some tetrafluoroethylene and stored it in a cylinder in preparation for the second time. The next experiment was carried out the next day, but when the pressure reducing valve of the cylinder was opened the next day, no gas overflowed. They thought it was a leak, but when they weighed the cylinder, they found that the cylinder did not lose weight. They sawed open the cylinder and found a large amount of white powder, which was Teflon.

They found that polytetrafluoroethylene had excellent properties and could be used for anti-fuze sealing gaskets for atomic bombs, artillery shells, etc., so the US military kept the technology secret during World War II. It was not until the end of World War II that it was declassified, and the industrial production of polytetrafluoroethylene was achieved in 1946.
